1000 Viscosity 70131-67-8 Silicone Oil Introduction
CAS 70131-67-8 is α,ω-dihydroxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane, commonly known in the industry as hydroxyl silicone oil/107 adhesive. A viscosity of 1000 (25℃) is the most commonly used general-purpose viscosity in this category. It is a linear polysiloxane with active hydroxyl groups at both ends, and is a core raw material for preparing room temperature vulcanizing silicone rubber and silicone sealants.
This product is a colorless, transparent, and odorless liquid with moderate fluidity. It combines the high and low temperature resistance, hydrophobicity, electrical insulation, and aging resistance of ordinary dimethyl silicone oil. Simultaneously, the hydroxyl groups at both ends possess stable condensation reaction activity, allowing it to cure at room temperature into a highly elastic and highly adhesive silicone rubber elastomer under the action of crosslinking agents and catalysts.
In RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanizing) silicone sealants, 1000 viscosity hydroxyl silicone oil is the most mainstream base material. It can be used to produce de-alcoholized, de-ketoxime, and de-acidified one/two-component silicone sealants, including weather-resistant sealants for building curtain walls, door and window sealants, electronic potting compounds, kitchen and bathroom anti-mildew sealants, and industrial adhesive sealants. Its moderate viscosity ensures good extrudability and workability while providing balanced tensile strength, resilience, and water resistance after curing.
In the production of high-temperature vulcanizing silicone rubber (HTV), it is used as a structure control agent and processing aid. It effectively inhibits the structuring of the rubber compound caused by fumed silica, improves mixing and processing performance, and enhances the transparency, surface smoothness, and soft feel of silicone products. It is widely used in insulators, seals, silicone tubes, and other products.
In liquid silicone rubber (LSR) systems, it is used to adjust the hardness and flexibility of the compound, improve the resilience and biocompatibility of the product, and is suitable for high-end silicone products such as food contact and medical consumables.
In addition, it can also be used as a raw material for the synthesis of organosilicon resins, coatings, and protective agents. It can be used to prepare high-temperature resistant hydrophobic coatings, stone protective agents, textile softeners, etc. It relies on hydroxyl groups to achieve cross-linking with other components, thereby improving the weather resistance, hydrophobicity and film-forming properties of materials.
