There are many types of adhesives, which can be divided into many types according to their ingredients, uses, and physical forms. Here we have sorted out the classification and uses of adhesives from these three aspects. I hope it can help everyone.
Classification by ingredients
- Silicone adhesive
It is a sealing adhesive with the characteristics of cold resistance, heat resistance, aging resistance, waterproof, moisture-proof, high telescopic fatigue strength, small permanent deformation, and non-toxicity. In recent years, this type of adhesive has developed rapidly in China, but currently my country's raw materials for silicone adhesives partly rely on imports.
- Polyurethane adhesive
It can bond a variety of materials. After bonding, it can still maintain the physical and chemical properties of the material at low or ultra-low temperatures. It is mainly used in shoemaking, packaging, automobiles, magnetic recording materials and other fields.
- Polyacrylic resin
Mainly used in the production of pressure-sensitive adhesives, also in the textile and construction fields.
Construction adhesives: Mainly used for decoration, sealing or bonding between structures in construction projects.
- Hot melt adhesive
According to different raw materials, it can be divided into EVA hot melt adhesive, polyamide hot melt adhesive, polyester hot melt adhesive, polyolefin hot melt adhesive, etc. At present, EVA hot melt adhesive is mainly produced and used in China. The main raw materials of polyolefin series adhesives are ethylene series, SBS, and SIS copolymers.
- Epoxy resin adhesive
It can bond metal and most non-metal materials and is widely used in construction, automobiles, electronics, electrical appliances and daily household products.
- Urea-formaldehyde resin, phenolic, melamine-formaldehyde adhesive
Mainly used in the wood processing industry, the amount of formaldehyde released after use is higher than international standards.
Adhesives for wood processing: used in medium density fiberboard, gypsum board, plywood, particle board, etc.
- Synthetic adhesive
Mainly used in wood processing, construction, decoration, automobile, shoemaking, packaging, textile, electronics, printing and binding and other fields. At present, my country imports nearly 200,000 tons of synthetic adhesives every year, including hot melt adhesives, silicone sealing adhesives, polyacrylic acid adhesives, polyurethane adhesives, automotive PVC plastic adhesives, etc. At the same time, about 20,000 tons of synthetic adhesives are exported every year, mainly polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl formal and pressure-sensitive adhesives.
