MQ silicone resin is a kind of organic silicone resin with a relatively unique structure. It is a three-dimensional spherical silicone resin generated by the co-hydrolysis and polycondensation reaction of an organic silicone compound containing a tetrafunctional siloxane chain (SiO4/2, Q) and an organic silicone compound containing a monofunctional siloxane chain (R3SiO1/2, M). It is generally believed that MQ silicone resin is a double-layered tight sphere, the core of which is a cage-like silica with a high density of silicon-oxygen bonds and a polymerization degree of 15-50, and the shell is a low-density R3SiO1/2 layer. MQ silicone resin has many different types due to the different organic groups R on the shell: when all R are methyl, it is called methyl MQ silicone resin or MQ silicone resin for short; when part of R is vinyl, it is called methyl vinyl MQ silicone resin; when part of R is H, it is called methyl hydrogenated MQ silicone resin; there are also methyl phenyl MQ silicone resin, vinyl MQ silicone resin, phenyl MQ silicone resin, fluorine-containing MQ silicone resin, MDQ, MTQ silicone resin, etc.

Its structural formula is: (R3SiO1/2)m(SiO4/2)n, R is methyl, vinyl, hydrogen, phenyl, etc.

Characteristics of MQ silicone resin

Product application areas

Silicone rubber reinforcing filler: Using MQ silicone resin as a reinforcing agent, liquid silicone rubber products have certain mechanical strength and high light transmittance, and the fluidity of the rubber before vulcanization is good;

Organic silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive reinforcing tackifier: adjust cohesion, adhesion and initial adhesion;

Defoaming agent field: improve the high temperature resistance, strong alkali resistance and foam suppression performance of the defoaming agent;

Mold release agent field: improve the mold release durability of the mold release agent, and the mold release effect for high-adhesion resins (such as polyurethane, epoxy resin, etc.) is more ideal;

Waterproofing agent field: The structure of polysiloxane determines that silicone resin is hydrophobic, and its contact angle with water is greater than 90° and is used in waterproof materials.

Cosmetic field: As a surface protective coating, it can eliminate the stickiness of silicone oil, improve smoothness, scratch resistance, and increase gloss;

Release regulator for addition-type anti-adhesive agents: Vinyl MQ silicone resin can be used as a release regulator for addition-type anti-adhesive agents.
